Archaeologists have made an incredible discovery in Rhondda Valley, Wales – a 6,000-year old piece of wood with elaborate decorations carved into it. The age of the artefact is incredible considering that the first settled societies didn’t emerge until 5,500 BC in Mesopotamia, and it was thousands of years later that Stonehenge was built in Great Britain.
The importance of this discovery is significant since it proves that sophistication in terms of artwork existed in Wales at that time, in a late Mesolithic period of time. The piece of wood that was found was 1.7m long and it had patterns engraved on both sides. According to the archaeologists it is believed to have been used to mark an area or a sacred site. Further excavations haven’t revealed any other artefacts so far, making this piece of wood even more unique.
It seems clear from so many discoveries that what archaeology and history believes about humanity’s past could be totally wrong. Mythology is dismissed as false, even if evidence has proven mythological events to be true, and any attempt to modify the ‘accepted facts’ of human evolution is dismissed as nonsense. The time will come when the evidence supporting the advanced level of knowledge and skill of our ancient ancestors will far outweigh conventional ideas of ancient societies being made up of primitives.
